I am exactly 11 weeks today and woke up this morning with some red spotting, it kind of seemed like a lot at first and has now tapered down. I just began weaning my progesterone last Thurs. Could that be the cause or am I just grasping at straws here?? I go in this afternoon to see what's going on but the nurse on the phone sounded like this is going to be bad news.

I know it must be scary, Maggie, but try not to worry too much. You won't know for sure until you go in, but you could have a subchorionic hemorrhage (SCH), which is a bleed between the chorion (outer membrane of the gestational sac) and the uterine wall. It's very common, especially in IVF pregnancies, and although it's traumatic to see all that blood (believe me, I know!), it often resolves without further complication. Do a search on here for SCH and you'll find A LOT of information from these knowledgeable ladies. I had one two weeks ago and was in an absolute panic, but so far, everything has been fine...

Please let us know what the doctor says!! Good luck.

I had it from about weeks 6 to 9 off and on. Very nerve-wracking, and they never found the cause, but everything was OK. I hope all is well with you. Please let us know.

Hi, go to your doctor but be aware that such spotting as you describe is not unusual, have bloods done to check hormone levels are on track. Am sure it is fine but do above for your own peace of mine, best, thk

I Went in and had everything checked out yesterday and the ultrasound still showed that things were progressing well. They had no explanation for the bleeding and suggested taking it easy until it subsides. I kind of wish I could have an explanation but I certainly won't complain when things are still going well!!!

Sometimes there is just no explanation, sorry to say. I'm glad things are still progressing though!

Hi. I know how terrifying this is. Happened to me at 6 weeks and sometime around 11 weeks. It was a subchorionic hemotoma (SCH). I was advised to drink a lot of water and stay off my feet. It resolved on its own and Baby Girl is now 12 weeks old.

When it first happened, I went to the ER panic-stricken. Of course, they didn't have the kind of equipment my RE had. They also didn't have the right expertise. They scared the crap out of me. All for nothing, because everything was fine.

Hang in there.

HI Maggie,
I'm glad things are ok. A nurse at my ob's once told me 'go to bed and stay there its my best advice'. I did that and everything was fine.
best, THK
