I have had this pin for at least 30 years, probably longer. I have searched online for any like it and have had no luck. Anyone have any idea if this is of any value and how old it might be? I did see a collector who thinks it's from 1954 and that it may be of some value. It's about the size of a penny. I have two photos, as it was hard to get one in focus. The darker one is in focus, but the lighter one shows more detail.

Hello JoAnn,

The logo on this pin was used by the Orioles from 1954 -1965. It might be a souvenir pin but I don't see any great value. Possibly in the $10.-$20. price range. I'll check around to see if I can find something more accurate. -Steven KeyMan

Have you found out anything? I still think it's of value to a collector for more than $20. As far as I can tell, it's a pretty unique pin. I haven't come across any like it in all my searches. I am still searching, though and trying to get it appraised.

Thanks!

Hello JoAnn,

I did find a 4" pin back button with the same logo that sold on eBay for $64.99 (following link)I think your pin is more unique and I like it better but without it being part of a set I don't see it selling for more than this price. If it was a Press Pin it will have a higher value but a press pin would have the event on it.

I went through some Orioles schedules from the 1954 -1965 era looking for a promotion involving this pin but came up empty. If you could connect the pin to something other than a souvenir it will have added demand and value. -Steven

Hi Steven,

Wow, you did do some research! I did take a look at the pin you found and yeah, I think mine is much more unique. I will see if I can find anything else about it. I have had this pin for a very long time and I think I bought it at a yard sale for $1.00 in the '70's. I contacted the Orioles front office but they couldn't tell me if it was distributed by them or not.

Hello JoAmm,

Funny thing that pin on ebay might be a reproduction. (the "S" logo on it is out of place for that era)I found another pin that looks more vintage to 1954 that sold for $10.

I found the following on Etsy the other day described as glass, made in Germany but I can't find it now -Steven

I found more info. The pendant sold for $40. and there were cufflinks that sold for $50. Here is the info on the cabochon:

About the Glass:
Image of a Baltimore Orioles baseball emblem. The size is 14 mm. These are silvered in the back. They were manufactured in the 1940-50's in Western Germany.

These are glass cabochons containing intaglio images or scenes. Each piece was hand-painted into a reverse carved image. Because they are so intricate and tiny its difficult to manufacture them today. Current high manufacturing costs make producing these crystals cost prohibitive. As a result, these crystals have become sought after rarities and historical treasures.
