That at least was how the Daily Record described Lygate in 2007 when they wrote him up as part of their "Crimes that rocked Scotland" series:

We can expect car bombs "driven by suicide bombers" in Glasgow.

Not least because it gets Lygate's score in the Glasgow Gorbals by-election wrong. For what it's worth Lygate won 72 votes - not the seven reported by the AWL scribe:

http://www.rowmaster.co.uk/by/bym166.htm

The results for the old CPGB and the Workers Party of Scotland were considered derisory at the time. No wonder the AWL want to play down the Lygate vote. These days most of the revisionists, left social-democrats and Brarites would be envious of even his modest electoral achievement.

nice bit of sectarianism added on there Guy. For what its worth I seem to remember HB got a very respectable vote when he stood for the SLP, certainly much more than 71. And to my knowledge the Party he is currently in hasn't stood in elections....so why should they be envious? If its not relevant to the topic, why chuck in a cpgb-ml dig?
