There should be a disclaimer here that I will pay to see DeNiro do his thing anytime, with few exceptions (Looking at you, Godsend/Hide and Seek). But this was excellent. I really liked it. And it's really poorly marketed.
This is not a light hearted feel good Christmas comedy. There is nothing Christmas about it so if that's what you're expecting avoid it. This is however a great example for one of those indie hipster "finding yourself" type flicks. DeNiro is great, Rockwell always is, and even Drew Barrymore didn't make me wana saw my head off, a first! Really moving at times, one scene caught me completely off guard and I almost teared up! Plenty of criers in the audience (though I wouldn't call it a completely depressing flick). My only complaint is that there is one dopey as hell scene that is poorly done and feels the need to overexplain everything to the audience. I always hate those.
But definitely go see it.
