From next season Mond Rangers will be playing in the West Cheshire league under the name FC Runcorn.
They will be putting in for grants to develop Pavillions, as they are now the town of Runcorns major Football side.
These grants will enable the club to develop and move up the football pyramid.
The club is calling on all true Runcorn Football fans to back them.

They will operate a resreve side and a under 18's side in the Altrincham league.

Forget all this rubbish of Runcorn Fc Prescott, its now time to back a team in Runcorn, playing under the name of Runcorn.

Hang on a minute, Im all for a Return to Runcorn by the current or even a newly formed team if so be it, but this is just an existing team changing its name.

It is the same as what we have done with Halton, trying to get new fans on board, and that is exactly what Mond are doing.

It will be no more of a Runcorn Football club than it already is.

Its time LIST etc jumped on board.
Now that Mond have taken this step, it will close the door on a FC Prescott Halton return to Runcorn. This AFC Runcorn will have a ground and grants boxed off etc

Its a start of a new foundation.
The team playing under Halton FC Prescott is as far removed from the original Runcorn Fc than it ever could be.
That team has not been Runcorn Fc for years.

At least this new AFC Runcorn has aims, objectives and most of all direction.

There was an EGM at pavilions on Saturday where it was agreed to the change the name. This is the only chance we will get to watch semi pro football in Runcorn. They are hoping to start a supporters club and will be looking for people to become involved. Please at least give them a chance?????????.

All the very best to them, the new AFC Runcorn. I hope you Runcornians will turn out and support them because at the moment they rely on the weekly draw for income. This, and Runcorn Vikings is good news for sport around here at long last. A Runcorn team playing in Runcorn (well, Weston Point anyway) gives the stay away fans no excuse.

Canal St is now a housing estate???? Pavilions almost went the same way. This is a second chance to keep non league football in Runcorn. If this is not successful then you can tell your grandchildren they will have to travel some way to watch football.

I believe the nes AFC Runcorn have got a ten year lease at Pavillions. If people don't get behind them and turn up in good numbers, it won't be your grandchildren so much as your children. Once things are up and running, get into the schools, both sides of the river and the new town. This is a second chance, don't throw it away.
