Maybe it's just me, but there doesn't seem to be much activity on this board anymore. There is some chatting, some nice Hellos, some "just checking in" messages, etc, but very few trip reports. I used to check the board daily for new trip reports, and learned a great deal from them. Now, it's not unusual to see only one or two trip reports a month.

Anybody have any comments?

that most trips to BW/Q by members are in July or later.

Sad to say, but, the reality is this board has seen better days, more active and much more vibrant. I checked in daily and found substance worth reading and engaging in a few years ago, now, if I check every couple weeks, it seems to be enough to keep up with things. Sad but seemingly true...

now I just visit here and don't have any advertising.

I like Chad (we have had some great conversations in the past) but the site seems to be "drying up".

I can't justify the high cost of the advertising but I do like to come back here and read all the posts & comment here and there.

I like the new format by the way and want to thank Chad for that.

Not to commercialize, but just to let you know I am one of those "outfitter types"

and that might be reason for few recent reports. Dr Bob mentions lots of activity on the other board - I took a look and yeah, there did seem to be a lot of trip reports. I rarely read any trip reports over there/just don't click on that separate category, but if they get posted here I'll read them.

It increases and decreases. I don't agree about the slow death theory at all, it's more that a lot of people have the "Waa Waa Waa!! BenthandlePaddler called me a name and I'm taking my ball and going home!!" syndrome. That might be more prominent here on this board and with this format, where posters are more likely to know each other and each others' traits and characteristics, than one with thousands of posters that might specialize in one or two categories that you rarely visit and it's more of an anonymous community, if you will.

and that's the fact that rather than more intricate/detailed discussion and reporting, many people opt to just post something - usually much more abbreviated - on Facebook. I've seen a decline in other message board useage - not just BWCA/Q-related forums - since FB became so popular.

There is a CCBB group on FB, but it's not a place I'd post a trip report on. Or discuss much BW/Q stuff on. Maybe a photo, maybe a "Hey is anyone else having trouble getting into CCBB today?". But for anything else, I'll come here.

****Glad we have the "Preview" function! I just checked before posting this, and my title said "Massage boards". Had I not caught it, it would have made JayKing proud! (you out there JK?)********

....enjoy every sandwich.

when you ban ot messages you lose the family feel of the board. Those that demanded ot no longer be aloud (bdays, kid updates, and so on) killed the board. A large group of people left that year to other boards

to attract new posters is to: 1. Avoid personal attacks, 2. Post really interesting messages, 3. Submit interesting pictures, 4. Post more trip reports - (a shortage of those has been mentioned specifically). Instead of merely bemoaning the decline of the CCBB, lets do something about it.

P.S. We know of many persons whom we formerly heard from often that have gone elsewhere. My question: Is there any rule that the same postings can't be sent to several sites? Even in retirement I don't want to spend time closely following several sites but I hate to miss really interesting posts simply because thee aren't on this board.
