MASTER INDEX FILE !

MANY THANKS  to everyone who has contributed to the information in these files.  This forum will always be a work in progress.  Its a way to file away all of my Commander information for personal use, and its also a way to share it with anyone else who may be interested, or who may need the info (for their personal and non-commercial purposes), or may want to post, ask questions, etc.   Because much of the information on the forum is not checked for accuracy,  represents opinions in some cases from unknown sources, and may represent a safety or personal/financial liability if acted upon, the information in this forum and Master Index is offered with the very best of intentions, but it MUST be validated by the user before utilization.   If anyone sees a link in this index that does not work, of finds any inaccuracies, please post a note and Ill try to fix it!

It sure makes surfing the site a lot easier, and there is a lot of material here I wasn't really aware of. It's good to group it all together in categories like that. I've been trying the search feature too, but the index is actually more helpful.

I don't have a lot of project photos to share right now because I haven't been using a digital camera, but I'm motivated to photograph with a digigal camera now, and to scan some of the pictures I do have. I will be able to send some in at a later date.

Nice job Paul,

Can anyone explain the difference between the 1969-1972 35'Sports Cruiser, Commander, and the 1973-1977 36'Sports Cruiser/Tournament Fisherman? I am restoring a Tournament that is suppose to weigh 22,600 - 25,300 lbs. My neighbor has a 35' 1969 Sports Cruiser he claims weighs about 13,890 lbs. Except for being one foot long, and less freeboard forward and aft the boats look very similar. I can't explain why my boat would weigh +$10,000 lbs. Any information is appreciated.

Thank you

The essential guide has several errors and ommissions, for one, they don't list the 327 motors as an option for the 38 Commanders, and this is clearly a mistake. They also don't list the Chrysler motors that were used during part of the 1966 season as a result of labor strikes, etc.

Looking at the numbers, here is the pattern I see, and your 36 clearly looks out of place if it has that kind of weight. It may well be an experiment where they built them extra heavy for severe offshore duty, but since there are other SF models out there like the longer and taller 38, with similar power options weighing less, it does make you wonder.

31 Sports Express 10,000

31 Sedan 11,500

35 Commander 13,478 - 13,994

35 Sports Cruiser 13,271 - 13,890

35 Salon 16,086
--------------------------------
36 Sports Cruiser/Tournament Fish 22,600 - 25,300 <<<<<<<<<<<<???
(proof that this 36-foot hull is built heavy for serious offshore use).
--------------------------------
38 Commander 16,644 - 19,272

38 Sedan 17,736

38 Sport Fish 19,840 - 22,555

41 Flush Deck 21,740

42 Commander and Sport Cruiser 22,443 - 25,621

The Essential Guide weights and the advertised weights are way off. My boat (45TF) lists at 38,700 lbs., but actually weighed just over 50,000 lbs. when I got it, with spare shafts, props, and a lot of other junk aboard. After removing all the spares and a lot of equipment it last weighed just under 45,000 lbs. Weights come from the Travel Lift gauges - weight from the forward hoist + weight from the aft hoist = total. The next time you're hauled, ask the operator.
