I missed this one Dave, amazed you found it. Yes I agree it is a project but it is entirely within the scope you and I both tackled with out 20-foot fiberglass Sea Skiffs. It would be interesting to know what serial number this one has.

Hopefully someone who will give it your kind of attention will get this boat. Trough the information network here on The Forum, we'll try to help in that regard.

best,

Paul

The GUA is the first year of production 1966, and the GUB is the second year of 1967.
First year got 70 boats out the door, Dave Krugler's boat seems to have actually gotten out the door a bit early, and the second year only 10 more boats.

GUB 20 0007N

This is number 7 of 10 built in 1967, and it is therefore one of the very last of the series.

It is a project boat for sure. We'll do what we can to get it into the right hands. There is virtually NOTHING about this boat that can't be fixed, and Dave and I have been through them from gelcoat to raw fiberglass inside and out.

Regards,

Paul

Hello all, I have contacted the seller of this boat and he is a Chris Craft guy, presently owns a 1969 Cavalier ski boat too, and he is interested in getting this boat to someone who will restore it properly.

Here are the photos, hopefully someone out there who has seen my own restoration of this particular boat (mine is #39), and of course Dave Kruglers restoration of #12, will get this project and have some fun with it. The photos show the boat is generally all there, looks pretty solid, but will most certainly be a project. It has some damage to the bow, probably fixed pretty easily. Bow piece is missing but may be found by putting out a flea market search at boat shows. Some of the controls, etc. look to be in better condition than what I started with. I would assume the floor structure would need reinforcing or replacement, but this is pretty easy wood working within a fiberglass hull. You can see from the two links at the bottom of this page, Dave and I both worked through the floor issues pretty easily. It's a project !!

For anyone interested in a project like this, or for general research and reading fun, here are two exhaustive links outlining every detail of work that was done on restoring two of these rare boats from the 1960s.

Tony's Marine in Marine City, MI has a beat old skiff out back... it has the light. Tony is a "part it out" guy, so I'm sure it could be had for a price...
