Just wanted to share my "Joe Venuti Orchestras" playlist with you:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 9724BA162F

The playlist contains almost the entire output (the ones I was able to find) of Joe Venuti's bands from 1926 to 1931 in chronological order.

25 of those 39 recordings are from my own collection.

Enjoy

Joe Venuti, Eddie Lang and Adrian Rollini. The recordings of Venuti's Blue Four with Adrian are treasures. And when Annette Hanshaw joins them on vocals, it is heaven on earth.

Try this one, a favorite of mine, "I Like What You Like." Adrian doubles on p and bsx, Joe on v, Eddie on g, Vic on d.

Outstanding stuff.

The information about Adrian Rollini doubling on piano comes from Rust. In his Lang discography, Ray Mitchell assigns the piano part to Rube Bloom.

Five sides were waxed in June 1927 by Annette Hanshaw.

I'm Somebody's Somebody Now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jJb8b_1gsA  I don't hear a piano.

I Like What You Like  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd-dX8fMjeE  I hear a piano solo and a piano behind the single string solo by Eddie. If it is Rollini both on piano and bsx, then Rollini does a very fast change from piano to bass sax at the end of Eddie's solo. I also hear Joe's violin behind Eddie's single string guitar. So the pianist cannot be Joe.

Ain't That A Grand and Glorious Feeling  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9nL7rr5kA0   I don't hear a piano

Who-oo? You-oo. That's Who! http://redhotjazz.com/songs/hanshaw/Who ... ho1927.ram  I don't hear a piano

Under the Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5WO0kATepM  I don't hear a piano. I hear chimes (Berton)

Rust gives four instrumental stars - Eddie, Joe, Adrian and Vic. Ray gives, in addition, for the first two sides, Rube Bloom.

The question: who plays piano in <em>I Like What You Like</em>, Adrian Rollini or Rube Bloom?

According to Rust the Sizzling Syncopators are Adrian Rollini, bsx, hfp; Joe Venuti, vn; Eddie Lang, g; Vic Berton,d. According to Ray Mitchell, there is also an unknown piano in "It Was Only A Sun Shower." No question, there is a piano, but I don't hear Adrian on bsx or hfp. Could he be the pianist? On "Who's That Knocking At My Door," I don't hear a piano and I hear Adrain on bxs and hfp.
