A while ago, the native Search function was, through no fault of this Forum, inactive. I may be mistaken but I thought it had returned. Now I see that even the word "Search" and its formerly productive link are missing.

I can do the Google search deal but, as we know, it's definitely spotty. At this stage, I simply want to behave like an adult and direct my expectations properly: Should we all adapt to the reality that Search, as we once knew and loved it, is never coming back? Is it gone alas like our youth too soon?

Thank you.

I share your pain. My SEARCH button has been missing for perhaps two months. It wasn't a perfect search function, but I do miss it. My memory is better at remembering the subject of discussion than the sources, which is sometimes maddening.

I complained several times about the disappearance of the search function and of images in postings: no response! A good friend from the university also has a forum with network54. His experience is the same. We don’t migrate to another provider because we have an enormous number of postings invested in network54

My friend is a technical wizard and tells me it would be very difficult to transfer all the postings to another provider.

Researched complaints from forum owners about Network 54. I've pasted the most recent response directly below the link where I found it.

Hi everyone,

The Network54 support forum has been migrated to the Tapatalk Groups platform. It will be here temporarily, until it gets redirected to the main Tapatalk Support forum.

I wanted to take this opportunity to give a little information to people who have not received an email yet.

All Network54 forums will be migrated to the Tapatalk Groups platform.

What to expect

- All your posts will be migrated.
- All your members will be migrated.
- You will be able to log in with the same username and password as you do now.
- If you previously allowed guest posting, you will still be able to do that.
- If you have multiple 'pages', they can be migrated into one group, but as separate forums.
- If you would like your group to have a name rather than a number, now is a good time to ask.
- There will be a test migration before the real migration of your data.

How to prepare

- Very important: Make sure that the email associated with your Network54 account is valid. We cannot get a hold of you to notify you of the migration if you don't have a valid email.
- You can request a test migration to check things out here at Tapatalk groups. A test migration will not affect your existing forum on Network54.

When will it happen

Test migrations are currently being done. This will take some time, however.
If you're eager to check out the new platform, feel free to post your link here with a test migration request.

Forum naming

I mentioned this above, but wanted to give a bit more info on this. Your forum can be renamed during the migration process. That way you can have a real name in the URL instead of numbers.
Please note that what you name your forum, this is what the URL will be. If you want your forum to be I Love Mickey Mouse, then your URL will behttps://www.tapatalk.com/groups/ilovemickeymouse
Pick your name carefully, as you can only pick it once.

Searching Google for "Tapatalk" produces loads of results, though many are not recent.

An open letter to Network 54 and TapaTalk:

09 Jan 2018, 18:08 #1

Greetings

Since its now public and common knowledge that Tapatalk has taken over NW54, what can we expect from this? Why werent the forum owners told before hand? You have our emails, and we should have been notified well before it was made public to the NW54 communities.

In the real world, this change of management is usually accompanied by letting the users/customer know what to expect from the change over. Nothing from NW54 at all regarding this. But that doesnt surpise me, as NW54's customer interaction is non-existent. Will TapaTalk be any better? Will the TapaTalk folks be better at communicating changes, and responding to the people that are paying customers?

Seriously flawed actions from both parties. NW54 has been having numerous issues since AugUST 2017, which crippled many NW54 sites. Yet no one from NW54 has responded to the complaints posted in the ADMIN's forum, or via email to those forum owners.

What can we expect from this merger? can we expect some kind of "Hi we're yer new landlords" message soon? Notice of new features? Updates on the current list of "upgrades"? Price increases? Changes to functionality--unrelated to the mobile user enhancements? More storage space? HTML5 or later compatibility? CSS? XML? RSS feeds?

I know I, and likely every paying NW54 forum owner would like answers to these and many other questions. Given the past performance of the NW54 management, Im not expecting much different behavior. Prove me wrong and respond here or email me.

More complaints.

I hope the search function gets fixed. This is killing me.

All I need is a back up copy of my forum and I will move on. This feels like a photo bucket ordeal. Sorry this is upsetting for the owners and needless to say
for all the forums members.

I don't want to raise your justified ire towards Network 54 and Tapatalk any further. But I find it hard to countenance this chain of events and management (if that word is even merited here) behavior in failing to respond to owners' inquiries. Feels like there's some rude kid on the other end whose habit is to ignore legitimate communication as if it's not worth the bother.

My husband and I have waded through a morass of underaged little snots manning sites (I just went through a ridiculous saga purchasing a handbag on DSW, now that their mortar stores are empty, and don't get me started on the empty-headed teenyboppers who work at our bank's phone service). They sure aren't capable of trouble-shooting problems on Comcrap, for our cable TV or computer, let alone dealing with inquiries.

It's like it's against the law for companies to hire anyone over the age of 20, and the snotty tots honestly can't be BOTHERED with dealing with paying customers. . . .

Which is why Amazon now deliberately hires retirees to be slave-driven at their distribution sites: our generation and older generations still have a work ethic, won't complain no matter how abusive their employers are (not a good thing, but still), and continue to deal politely with customers because that's how we were all brought up to behave.
