I just placed an order with them a couple of days ago.

Bugger!

Thanks for the heads up.

Cheers,
Motty.

Apparently one small charge of $2 on my card was enough to trigger bank security. Certainly matches the MO mentioned on ARC and my last order with hannants was only about 7-8 days ago.

I apparantly ordered $50 worth of Dominoes pizza online in the UK then booked a flight on British Airways worth about $1990 on friday night.

Nasty email to Hannants about to be sent.

Cheers for the heads up. Looks like it's a trip to the bank in the morning.

Cheers,

Yesterday i went to with draw money out of my bank account via ATM and the bank had already put a stop on my account.
A few hours later i received a call from my bank that someone tried to withdraw $1.95 under the name Mike Macaulay or very similar to that approx 11:30 Sunday.
Now i am waiting for a new card to be issued.
Last time i ordered from Hannants was 2 months ago, i think this will be much more widespread than what we think!

Just tried to get on the Hannants website but it is off line for maintenance!

Cheers John

One of the times (its happened twice to date ) it happened to me I reckon the NRMA was to blame.

Never had any trouble getting any of the money back.

I do check my internet banking 3-4 times a week and run a money program that tracks spending so any discrepancies are pretty obvious

I've just received this reply from Hannants.

"Dear Sir,

Your order was charged the instant you sent the order.

Please log in and delete your card details using the option in Your Account.

Dear Sir,

We are very sorry but there is a payment card security problem.

We received a few emails yesterday afternoon and today we have found that there is an actual problem.

Initial enquiries indicate that the problem is between the company in America that maintains the server and the clearing bank in England that handles the payments and that several other companies around the world are also affected.

The website has been temporarily closed until the problem is sorted out.

The companies that manage the security side of this business are investigating.

When we know what has happened and we have accurate information we will be sending out an email to all our customers.

We are very sorry for this problem.

We will send more information as soon as we can.

Best regards
H.G.Hannant Ltd."

Problem is, since the site has been closed down, I can't get to my account to delete my details.

Cheers,
Motty.

so ago my bank rang me and asked if I'd just spent 700 dollars over the net. I said no, and they said that they had been alerted because before that amount was spent someone had made a 2 dollar debit. They cancelled the payment and the card immediately and gave me a new one.

It was a nuisance in that it was the card I use for regular automatic monthly and quarterly debits. So I had to change those payment details with the commpanies involved - and like in everything there is always one you forget. So I copped a letter from the insurance company, which I very politely sorted out with them.
