I saw the whole thing, i found it very hard to stand out, each team had 4 lines, 15 min. period, a forward would probably average 9 shifts a games, and playong with all the best players, hard to stand out.

Players that looked good to me were...
Carrick (stepped up huge, looks like he really wants it)
Toffoli (Along with his scoring, I saw a a physical aspect brought to his game)
Gudbranson (A force with his reach, and awareness)
Mort (Always going 100%, good shot)
Vickers (biggest surprise, looks to be regaining old form, some of the biggest hits of the weekend, and he appears to be one of the most liked players by all)....i dont think he'll make the team but he just seems like a player everyteam has gotta have..

these are just a few, overall i know my son had a great time, and it looked to be run pretty smoothly, the only issue was i believe many kids arrived later than others and missed a couple things, but other than that, awesome weekend!! good luck to all!

Cheers

ps- does any body know if there is any more cuts, does it know go to a list of 40, or does everone still have a chance

How did the McFarland do? Was he a non-factor, like the GTHL U17 camp.

They don't just look at game play. You are right 20 kids not much time on the ice. But they watched that all year. Really watching behaviour off the ice and whether you complain when somebody tells you to do something ie. short shifts, play wing, don't cheat on tests, too arrogant, etc.

mcfarland was a non factor, when i watched him he was brutal. he also two handed a player in the back and two handed the goalie for team white in the back of the legs!

Immature this McFarland is, hopefully he will learn before its too late. I have seen many players fail because of a lack of maturity. I think he needs to learn what his priorities are in life. Hockey is about remain composed, and performing under ANY conditions. In hockey you are only as good a your last shift. I just hope McFarland wakes up and smells the coffee before its too late.

What kind of tests did they give at the camp?

Highlights- The porn presentation the kids got.
Low-lights- Mcfarland costing his team a win in the first game with a two hander that gained him a 5 and game ejection.

Good hockey for the most part. Second game on day two a little slow due to an early morning game followed by a mid afternoon practice.

Tips for the Ottawa group next year...Make sure kids over 6 feet can fit in the beds and that they are not rock hard.

This team will be very good, with a mixture of skill, size, speed and bashers. How quickly they gel in BC will be up to them.
