Knowing there are a number of members here who enjoy modelling the 109, I thought I'd share some pictures of the 109G-6 located at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

I was there last week for work and had a very short visit (about 1hr) to dash around the Memorial. I haven't been there for ages and the WW2 German aircraft weren't on display then.

The 109 is setup in a "Battle of Berlin" type diorama with the Lancaster G-George. The interesting feature of this airframe is that it's still in its original WW2 Luftwaffe colours. It appears to have been in the process of repair and reissue to a front line unit at the end of the war when it was given to Australia. There's considerable detail on this plane in Brett Green's book on the 109.

Part 2

There's also a Me 262, Me 163 and a V-1 in the Memorial. I might post the pics of those later.

Cheers

Thanks Greame for the catch. Must have just missed this browsing through the album as the 109 pictures are mixed around a bit.

I've removed the Spitfire picture to avoid confusion in the future and added one of the 109 pictures which I hadn't posted.

Cheers
