Been trying in vain to find a good WW2 RAF greatcoat to fit a 42 chest, 5'10", preferably officer type, or O/R with insignia...will pay top price for the real thing! Thank you.

I check eBay daily but nothing found, too many are post-war trying to pass off as WW2, would prefer original to repro.

Try googling "Torchwood" on ebay, should flush a few more out.

On the flipside, Captain Jack Harkness has meant the price of these is ridiculous

Try thishttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WWII-RAF-OFFICERS ... 3efbc5be49

The Officers greatcoat changed in style in 1947. The full belt changed to a half one fastened at the back only with two buttons, while the wartime style three buttoned cuffs were replaced with large turned-up cuffs. I dont think the airmens pattern changed outside the Kings crown buttons being swapped for Queens crown.

The OA's greatcoats changed in, IIRC, 1950. Ones post then have an extra row of buttons and a half belt at the rear

LOL; it seems that, unknownst to me, the company in question has made such an impact that not only am I using the not uncommon verb-ification of the proper noun, but am using it generically in place of search.

Next thing you know I'll be googling for my car keys, describing the police as taking part in google and rescue missions, or calling old John Wayne movies "The Googlers".

The intertubes has affected my language in a manner I wish it hadn't

Thanks for the heads-up, that one on ebay is too small with only a 19" pit to pit measurement but is the style I want. Can then this one be WW2 as stated....

No thats post war. Half belt (will be on the back only) turned up cuffs and fixed as opposed to removable epaulettes. It also has very modern rank lace!!
