This one is on ebay. It also has the holes and grommets on the straps.

I have to admit it looks pukka.
I've never seen one with the eyelets though.
The seller could have made better photos. Some of them are ok.
I would be interested in seeing a photo of the interior, with the zip opened.

Harry's one has the eyelets which shows that there is a higher chance that Harry's is original. I've compared this one to every repro I have seen, and it is different to all of them. Also, te seller has stated the internal rubbberisation is green which is correct, isn't it Neil? Looking back at the photos of Harry's, he got a very nice mae west for a relatively small price

Notice also on the mae west the stamping for FRONT. Like Neil's replica mae west, the stamping is the sans seriff font; I haven't seen many originals with this font, so this makes it quite rare in that sense. I'm not saying that this font isn't genuine though, as I have a picture from the BoB of a group of pilots, and a few of them are wearing similar mae wests with this style of font.

Hi Ben,
Very observant of you! I hardly noticed the "squarer" font.
As we've mentioned before, it's probably a manufacturer's style. I have seen an original 32 patt with this font. I know it was original as it came directly from the wartime owner.
Also yes, the interior rubberization would be correct to be green.
I am inclined to believe this is the real thing!
Apparently the seller didn't know what he had until someone let him know. He will get a shock when he sees how much this vest will fetch!
This will be worth digging deep for as the price of the green 32 patt will keep going up.
Good luck!
Neil

Maybe I should convince my Dad it would make a good investment... I think it's original as well; either way, if it's a repro then it is a very good one.

The detail in the description sounds like it is identical to mine..khaki green inner ruberised lining, 'lightning' marked zipper with the 'U' on the bridge. Different font though to the 'Front'... mine is more Times New Roman. I know there was some scepticism on the yellow paint job on the one I purchased, due to lack of paint on the Zip (which there is, but just not showing on the photos), and mine has added leg straps, which seems a common modification that started around the time that yellow painting began. Anyway, this one could be worht a punt.
