Hi, How do you feel of having an option to insert your own ad to Tapatalk when your members browsing your forum on Tapatalk? I like the idea of empowering forum owners to monetize thru this app however I am a bit hesitate as your members has already paid for an app and they probably don't want to see any ads? And if you like this idea, how do you like this to be realized? The simplest idea would be fetching some banners from your site and display them e.g. on Topic Listing screen. I want to open this up as I want to make sure that if we do it, we are doing it right. The most important thing is it should be very stable and actually pleasent to see. What do you think? Do you think you can really monetize thru it? Or you don't care at all?
Sounds great but I hope we have the. Ability to register via app, quote/edit a post, and who's online first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I feel like I need to explain why I feel a few things need to be done first. I can only speak for my site. But the app isn't keeping my members from using the mobile theme I have. If no one is using the app then I won't make money from the ads. They have to leave the app to check pms, to check who's online(widely used on my site), to look at peeps photos, to leave messages on a friends page, to quote someone I'm a thread, to edit a post or thread they made, you can't even tell if someone is online when u see their post in a thread, and we can't retain new members(which would add to the number of peeps viewing the add) because they are detered because they have to leave the app to do so. I know all this takes time and some features would require a lot of work to add. But something has to be done to keep peeps from leaving the app to do the simplest things. We wouldn't make much from the ads. Oh a few other complaints were smilies don't show and they would like to use bb code to bold and change color of font. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You got the point fonz here are few things that we are constantly trying to deliver (e.g we just finished off the PM today!) What I am saying do not mean we will leave all that critical stuff behind but we are thinking adead so we know what's good to do and what's not. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
It is a good idea and it will probably be brought up by some forum owner at some point. I don't know that I would use this, but supporting the most common ad systems- Google, Yahoo, Bing- would be a good idea. I run Google Adsense on all three of ths sites I have, but it is usergroup controlled. Subscribing members don't see any ads- but this is done with conditionals in the template, I don't know how you would allow me to prevent certain usergroups from seeing ads. Most of the ads I see in apps are at the bottom of the screen taking up valuable real estate on a small screen, so I would suggest that any ads be controllable by the forum owner (On/Off/Group Selective) and that the ads are inline (at the top and bottom) of forum, thread, and post listings. This will allow the user to see the add but also to scroll away from it while searching the site. A static ad at the top or bottom would just take up too much space. Does that make sense?
I'm curious how much cash mobile ads generate. Thanks for the update winter. With the diff platforms of phones and message board software. I don't know how yawl do it all at once. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wholeheartly agree that it is annoying to see a banner taking up my screen that is already small to begin with!!
^true, but in the future, you should provide forum owners the option. we use adsense, though we're not sure how we would use it on tapatalk.
I think that having the ad inside the topic, between posts is nicer. Imagine the ad being between first and second post. If a user doesn't like to click it he can just scroll down to the next post very quickly. As an ad I prefer the google adsense for mobiles which is on closed beta right now but you can see how it looks on the shazam app. Just my 2 cents
