Tapatalk Pro: Up-coming planned features for Android

    Hi,

    Like we promised earlier we want to add some unique feature to Android to make it really stand apart from iPhone.. Below are few of the pending features that we will add over the next 2-4 weeks time:

    1) Image Upload / Camera Image Upload
    2) Resolve auto-correct issue in Android 2.x
    3) Improve app performance (still quite slow in G1 or older devices)
    3) Improve Unread Posts view
    4) Forum Search
    5) "Mark Forums Read" (aka "marks all posts as read") button

    What we have in mind is to roll out the Notification support for Android that the app will notify of new PM or new posts. The development team here is confidence that this unique feature can be done ahead of the iPhone push notification.

    These features are what we committed to all the Pro users and we want to make sure they are delivered ASAP.

    Sheesh i'm jealous. I'm glad push was never a big deal to me. Haaaa but it would be nice. Now if android gets the ability to upload avatars and pics to albums before iPhone we gonna have a talk. Haaa

    Nice! Is there ever going to be a widget option added?

    Also, any plans on implementing tools to help those members who are admins/mod/super user. Would be nice to be able to edit, delete, move, etc. on the fly :D

    before there are major additions for moderators i believe the app needs to have more functionality for regular users. like being able to add pics as an avatar, add pics to a photo album, basic usercp functions, comment on profiles, friends lists, add peeps as friends from within the app. im willing to sacrifice a trip to safari to do moderator options or wait till im at a pc.

    i got all this as input from users who weren't happy with the app. but these were user's who never really been on a forum so they really couldn't appreciate the app for what it provides forum users. but if the app had all that it would attract people who wouldn't normally try forums. help making a forum more diverse and fresh.

    there is so much more this app can do i get excited thinking about it. haha

    The iPhone app is far superior to the Android app at the moment. So i think they are making the field level.

    Well said... we aware the gap but we intend to close it - just want to assure you guys we are not leaving it as-is, keep in mind that the iPhone app started 6 months earlier and I'm pleased to see Android catching app up indeed very quickly.

    I dunno if this is the right spot for a suggestion or not, but I'd love a feature that would alert a user that a forum using a predetermined keyword is now allowing tapatalk. For example, I'm a Red Sox fan, and I'm holding out hope that a good Sox message board will soon accept it. My problem is that I have to keep running the same search over and over in an ongoing effort to locate one, and it would be helpful to have tapatalk simply alert me when there's been a hit on the keywords I've told it to look for. It could even be set to scan at hours when users are sleeping.

    This all sounds very nice, but after more than two months, the features are still not there. I miss especially the "mark forums read" feature...

    So, are there any news on these plans?

    I've got another suggestion: could the scrolling be smoother? I notice that it seems to me that, on viewing any given thread, scrolling seems to be a bit choppier than it ought to be.

    We are going to release another update hopefully over the weekend with this fix.

    Also we have revamped some of the core and you should feel the up-coming version will be a lot faster :cool:

    A major performance update and overall text size adjustment, added ability to bookmark sub-forums. Was going to include Notification but the test lately seems to drain the battery quite a bit so need a bit more time to test it all out.

    We're making progress, just a bit slower than I like :D
