Okay, so I had Tapatalk up and running on my phpBB3 forum and I was able to connect, read, and post from my iPod Touch. I recently switched my site over to a secure connection (ssl) to encrypt passwords and such for better security. I then tried using Tapatalk to connect to my forum and it said some error. I haven't been able to use Tapatalk for my forum since I switched it to SSL. Is there a way to fix that?
Hi Matteo, So far, tapatalk only can connect the 80 port for your forum, so can not create SSL connection with your server. Anyway, we will note it and think about is able to let tapatalk support SSL, we will update you if we put the SSL support in our schedule. Thanks, Yao
I have an SSL secured Vbulletin v4 site, but Tapatalk doesn't work with it, so I'd be interested in having a version of tapatalk that works on my SSL secured site. There will be two issues to resolve I suppose. 1) Allowing the iPhone client app to have an option for port 80 HTTP or port 443 SSL 2) Internet Explorer gives a warning when mixing HTTPS with HTTP As the java script on the tapatalk.com site is referenced via HTTP, Internet Explorer will pop up a message warning about mixed mode Whilst users can disable the warning, many will not know how to and others won't want to disable the warning. As a workaround, I tried specifying https:tapatalk.com for the script, but this gives a certificate warning, as it appears to have expired and the cert is not from a generally trusted certificate authority. PS: If someone at tapatalk wants to try a 3 month free and generally trusted web certificate, I found the comodo.com certs very useful and the 3 months free is great for testing a site out before commiting to paying for a cert.
any word on adding HTTPS support ? I have downloaded the iPhone app, but my FB4 site runs over HTTPS to protect passwords, so I can't use it yet. Would it be possible to have an option to use HTTPS ?
Hello, I asked many Forum-Administrators of my favorite Sites to Install Tapatalk API but the Answer is every time the same. NO! because there is no SSL Secure Layer Connection possible. SSL (HTTPs) is NOT a Option! it is the only Secure way to connect a Website with a end to end tunnel! So I have the request to establish the SSL Connection into Tapatalk because I like the Program but the Forum members didn't install the API without SSL support. Best Regards Christopher Müller
