I did a test on a PHPBB3 forum. I wrote "<quote>testing quote</quote> after quote" (replace <> with []) which comes out as: "Quote: testing quote after quote" with no visible difference between them so you can't see where a quote starts and ends. In any threads with multiple quotes it is all jumbled together and you can't even see where the quotes end.
