Hi Folks, Just to give you an update of where we are at in terms of the iPhone app development. As you might aware the current version (1.6) we added a sub-forums filtering and sorting feature which I hope it allows you to find the sub-forums quickly. Also another big thing we added is the ability to restore to the last session so the app no longer return to the Favorites screen. This is important as it establish a technical foundation for the up-coming Push Notification implementation. We are going to submit an updated 1.6.1 to app store in next few days, with improved error/fault handling that it will no longer force you to logoff the app. Also this version will improve the multi-language support. On the other hand we are planning to add the following features in next version behind 1.6.1: 1) Search - ability to search is a big thing, based on the daily feedback we received from users. 2) Unread Tab - We will revamp the tab so it can shows more than 20 posts and with the red-badge showing the real unread number. 3) Mark All as Read - we will add a button somewhere in the Latest tab so you can mark all as read in just one simple tap. All these requires server-side update and we are working on it. We expect it will take a bit of time to get phpBB and all three version of vBulletin updated and distributed, before the app can be submitted to app store. I hope you continue enjoy the app so far.

Please consider putting the "mark forums read" link at the bottom of the list of threads and not back at the top of the page. That way when you're done scrolling through the threads the link is right there. It drives me nuts on vBulletin that you have to scroll back up to the top of the page and then select that link from a drop-down. It used to be at the bottom of the new posts page and for some reason they took it out with 3.8. I added it back to mine.
I'd personally like to see something like this implemented. http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=232619 One of the misses imo is the inability of the app to process a youtube video. Currently, I have to quote the post, copy/paste the youtube link from that post, exit tapatalk, then go to the youtube app or Safari. Which as you can see, is a huge pain.
Push notifications would be FANTASTIC! Any idea when this might be coming? I do realize it's a lot to set up server-side.
The restoring latest session is awesome..big help. Still looking for the implementation of it understanding youtube video's. Keep up the good work.

the iphone app has been treated like the older kid when a new born baby arrives in the house hold. haaaaaaa understandable but damn it sucks haha the profile area needs improvement. need the ability to add friends, view comments, leave comments, view picture albums and upload to albums. hope to see the day when the app will be damn near like a myspace or facebook app. meaning we can do most stuff from the app. that way peeps wont feel the need to have to get on from a pc. i have a few users that hate getting on from a computer cause of how convenient the iphone is. im still waiting for responses on a few threads i bumped the other day. sigh
iFonz, I hope this is not the case however it does feel like its all gone quiet - the iPhone app has to be the most popular however its still not finished with a fair bit of functionality missing... Hopefully the dev's will give this app a final push to get these things added for iPhone users
Guys don't get us wrong - the app is still in active development in fact we put in double the resource on iPhone than any other. The complication here is that as the coverage of forum systems expand it does side-tracking us a bit to make sure all the new function works in all system, which is a bit of chicken and egg issues nowaday. If you are geeky enough you will notice we added Search, Unread Posts, and Mark Forums Read function in the plugin side already in last update. We are getting there
Yea, I'm not liking being logged out each time I access my forum through the History Tab. It's fine if I access the forum through the Accounts Tab, but I'd like to continue to stay logged in under the History Tab too.
I have to agree. Don't see how multiple login made it before other features such as search, in app registration, profile revamp, thread revamp, smilies, and so on. I guess it was easy to add. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
