No plan yet until WebOS sales picking up.. but not likely.. as much as I like the Pre (which I really do)
Hmmm.. I would have thought that with 800,000 webOS devices in the market via Sprint and at least 600,000 more coming via VZW (with just the Pre, not counting the Pixi) that would be a good target market. Combined with a marketplace that has carrier billed services (as opposed to the Google Checkout hurdle er requirement of Android), a high visability on apps (with 1000 apps in marketplace) and a user base that seems to be happy embracing paid apps, it would look like to be a fertile ground to build the Tapatalk app.
Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who would LOVE to see a palm app. My little forum (800 regged uers, approx 40-70 online at anytime) has a dedicated group of palm pre owners (myself included) who would all buy this in a heartbeat. Pls consider adding webos support Thanks!
Yeah, I am a member on quite a few forums that have several Palm Pre users and the sites have the plugin for the iphone and BB's. many of us would love to have this for WebOS and would gladly pay for the app.
Let me cast another vote for Palm support! I hear that Verizon just committed to more phones, and that Bellsouth and maybe TMobile will be getting devices soon!
I should mention to that WebOS development is *extremely* easy, particularly for an app like your own. A friend of mine who is a much better programmer than me wrote an iPhone app that took him a few weeks. Out of curiosity, I wrote the same app for WebOS, maintaining all of the existing functionality as his app (and more). It took me one day.. and it was my first WebOS project.
If you are interested to create an app for Tapatalk we would be happy to see it happen Internally we brainstormed about opening up the API so any developer can develop something "Tapatalk-compatible" - we'll definitely revisit it as soon as the API becomes more stable and in a more polish state. Glad you guys keep pushing us to make it happening. You know the BlackBerry folks are doing a count-down of our beta release to make sure we release it on-time.
WebOS is very easy for you to now convert your program to just use the PDK at http://developer.palm.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1936 remember you are causing a chicken and the egg problem by waiting for more WebOS users as most who are interested in WebOS (including you it seems ) are waiting for more apps P.S. I love my Palm Pre Plus and run a SMF website devoted to helping users of Android, Blackberry, WebOS, PalmOS, WinMo phones. so this plugin (by dragoon for SMF) and mobile program are greatly appreciated and needed
The PDK wouldn't be of any use for porting Tapatalk to the webOS. It's for porting apps that have implemented their entire gui using OpenGL, the SDL, etc. Apps that use the builtin iPhone or Android gui toolkit (native widgets, etc), will usually be easier to start from scratch. Even if it was possible, Palm would reject any app that uses the native gui element design from another platform. But it's not... so that's a moot point
Add me as another Palm Pre user and fan. I'm also an IPB forum owner (no option for this yet in the profile). I'd love to see this show up on the Palm app store!
Love the app, I own a few very large forums and just added tapatalk to one of them yesterday. I have a few folks asking for a WebOS version (just so ya know there does seem to be interest).
5% market share not enough? sad thats many millions of users tbh. oh well regretting buying my pre now since there is such shitty support from devs. Best OS and no one embraces it, oh well, i guess ill get a blackberry.
I'll chime in again. I am noticing more users with webos on my site. Not to mention the impending buy out of the OS. I foresee webOS lasting a good while. Hell it's often referred to as the best 1.0 OS ever and I'd have to agree. It's ashame they picked the pixi as their 2nd handset and not something sexier than the pre. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk BetaX
Another pre user here, definitely hoping for a tapatalk app on webos! PS when registering I was sad to see that if you don't have android, iphone or bb then you can't possibly have a smartphone. Where's the 'other' option? lol
