Is there anyway to incorporate sponsor ads into this? I think this is a great program and idea but we have a bunch of sponsors who would be missing out on their paid sponsor ads plus we wouldn't be getting any adSense hits.

I would really like to implement this on our forum but I cannot run off sponsors. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Great you bought this up. Yes we are working on this where it allows you to place sponsor ads to your forum. Check back next month ;)

Are you guys still looking to add this? I run a fairly big forum Rank 109 on bigboards (http://www.big-boards.com/highlight/655/) and would love to offer this to my users but I need to be able to add banners (for my sponsors) and maybe a small google ad.

I am willing to work with someone to maybe find a way to modify the PHP files included in the install to fit my needs. Thanks

Eric, yes it is still in our agenda and it is 50% done. We have been tied up on Image Upload lately and dealing with Apple Rejections (4 rejections since 1.3) and trying to fix some crashes in past week.

Our rough plan is to allow you to upload and manage the ads within the Forum Owner Area at this site so you can turn it on off. At this first phase it will allow you to display your own ad at at the top of "Latest", "Inbox" and "Subscribed" tab. We will see how the feedback goes and make adjustment from there. The ads will be more impression than a click as a click will exit the app and jump to Safari.

Yup. I can't leave my sponsors out to dry, they are getting fewer and further between as it is. Right now we are managing with just an iPhone skin that works ok, but is just a pain in the butt for me to manage.

If I could use it with our existing phpadsnew mod to display banners that would be ideal and require just a little more effort on my end. If I have to setup all my sponsor banners on here two that means I have to manage them twice, not quite ideal but better than nothing.

We use to be way bigger. Currently though our average number of active users during normal hours is right around 300-400.

Honestly I think this app, without the banner, encourage your users to access your site more often and ultimately they will access it more from the standard web browser. I really don't think it will take away any of your traffic.

The way I see it is, with the banner support within this app, it allows you to monetize from it, and is an added bonus on top of what you already have.

Or am I thinking it wrong??

i think he may have ads on his mobile theme

only way i can see it hurting his mobile impressions unless peeps view the full site regularly from their iphones.

Which they do, my sponsors get impressions from the 3 small banners we load up top and we get a little bit from the small google mobile ad at the bottom. I know we have a ton of our regular users who use iPhones to surf our site as their primary device.

This is what our current iPhone skin looks like:

http://www.ls2.com/usa/index.php?styleid=16

So by running ads through your site I would need to combine the two impression figures. I can use specific URLs to keep the click counts all on our server and google handles their ads.

The mobile users don't get the full bar on the right with all the sponsors, but they do have some minimal banners and the one google ad and a stripped down forum with less images etc.

I am curious to see how you guys do this with tapatalk as currently the three banners up top rotate randomly through our sponsor list and they are set to never duplicate on the same page load.

I have ads setup to display after the 1st post in a thread but they do not show in the Tapatalk app. Is there any way to present the ads that are already being shown as a part of an existing thread? This way we are not required to manage ads in two places (our existing sites, as well as on Tapatalk). I use Google AdManager to manage the ads and would cringe to be forced to manage them on yet a second site. Like what has already been posted, I fear my advertisers are missing our in much needed impressions. Something to consider.

With the iPhone app stablizes (a bit) we will venture into ads support. It is a complicated matter as we support multiple forum systems and different system has different ads plugin and everyone has their opinion on how it should be handled.

What we have in mind is to provide an area where you can insert a Google Mobile Ads (web-based, not the Admob one) in a predefined area, and in addition we might be able to provide a simple facility for you to upload a sponsor's ad (which is popular in regional niche community, e.g. local tuners for automotive). Having that said we need to figure out a way that is doable as we have extremely limited resource.

Once the basic thing is done, we are going to work with the vbAdvertise (if you are from vBulletin) to provide a hook to their system so you can do whatever you want using vbAdvertise system that can covers both web and mobile space.

Let me know if you have any additional thoughts, I really want everyone chime in and tell us what would work best for you and we try to accomodate.

Cheers,

I hope you succeed in developing this, and that it will work in a phpBB environment as well... Since I have not yet implemented ads I would be happy to tailor my choice of integration to dovetail with your solution as well.

Thanks for a great app!

We are also very interested in this... A much simpler way would be to implement fixed sizes and text ads within the Tapatalk backend. Then we could simply put our own advertising codes into that system (Alan Kay's "Every computer problem can be solved with an added layer of abstraction" theory).

So if your using OpenX, or nearly any other ad server you can set up a mobile category and handle individual ads in your own backend.

Our forum doesn't use sponsored banner ads but I'd love to have adsense running.

I'm probably going to disable tapatalk until they have the ability for sponsors/ad code... I have it running on 3 sites right now..

Also, i'd rather pay a fee as a forum owner and have the users download it free.. other than them paying for it.. then seeing the ads ;)

Good times.
