Hi team,
I have a suggestion for Tapatalk. I'd like the ability to restrict some forums from not appearing to clients who connect to the forums from the Tapatalk application. Aside from the lack of a Tapatalk admin interface, is there a way to exclude a certain forum #?

out of curiosity what reasons would u have to exclude a member from seeing certain forums from their iphone that they can normally see from a pc?

One scenario would be content restrictions that Tapatalk must abide by due to PRC law that do not apply to non PRC websites. If, for instance, I have an 'anything goes' forum or a political forum, I may choose to exclude that forum from being viewed via Tapatalk.
Another scenario may be a forum that is dedicated to large pictures, backgrounds, etc that just don't translate well to the iPhone.

good point djc,
but for large image / wall paper, it is resized in iPhone to make it viewable.
we don't want to play content censorship role here but our bottom line is no warez and adult-only content, to make the network clean - the same fashion that Apple filter out explicit content from the App Store.

I agree. It makes more sense for the forum owner to control content to the Tapatalk network than for Tapatalk to have to police it.

Okay folks - after two months I am vitalizing this discussion. We have added a "Forum" filter feature that can hide certain sub-forums from appearing on the iPhone app.
Don't panic - we are not policing it - it is up to you to filter it, all you need to do is to edit the configuration file comes with the VB plugin, you have full control of this.
The reason of doing this, well, from Team Tapatalk prespective - to conform with Apple rigid standard of "objectionable content" and things they really hate such as "Jail-broken" etc.
Combining with the just announced new feature on the "Forum Owner Area" where you can set your forum as "Search Only", these provide a level of flexibility keep everyone happy (hopefully).
This new "sub-forum filtering" feature will be included in the next VB plugin release (0.9.11)

That's cool but I'll never have a need for it.
Good work

It would be ideal to be able to control features such as the sub-forum hide feature from the vb admincp. While some of our admins have access to the file structure, many do not. Either way, being able to change everything through admincp would only make controlling the server-side install easier and it would be more stable. Any chance we'll see this in the future?
