Hello,
I run a forum which runs on my own custom software. I was wondering if there's any way I could write my own plugin using your specifications and still allow my users to make use of Tapatalk?
Thank you,
Jackson

I'm not sure you are going to get a positive answer on this one... Can I ask why you would run your own custom software instead of running one of the commercial or free suites?

My site is more than a simple forum. Writing my own software allows me to provide integration between all aspects of my site which cookie-cutter software just can't match. Additionally, I wanted the learning experience of tackling a project as big as a forum.
I already had a large, dedicated enough community to warrant the time investment too. I knew the software wouldn't be neglected.

That must have been a lot of work, but if it works, it works.
I wouldn't even know where to start giving you an answer about the plugin, so I am sure the dev team will come and give you an answer.

Hi jackbenimble4,
We do intend to open up the API, but we didn't expect to receive this inquiry this early of the game.
We can provide you some basic document to get started if you believe you can tackle this as the first adopter. But I think it is not so bad because we are also half-way on the phpBB support.
Please send me PM of your contact email and your forum URL, the dev team will follow up with you.

Judging by the vBulletin plugin code, I think the Tapatalk client just requires several specific XML feeds. They're fairly easy to write if you know exactly what the client expects. The only major complications might be bbcode or any intricate permissions systems that a forum might have.
Most forum software is fundamentally the same.

Winter,
Has the API been released already?
I have a custom forum too customized to port to any commercial software, and I would like to try how tapatalk works for us by writing an interface for it. Can you provide details?
Can't send you private message, I'm still restricted user here.
Thanks
